SHERRY FORD

Sherry Ford has a background of 30+ years experience in social work. Her experience includes working in county agencies and private agencies in Pennsylvania, Texas, and North Carolina.  This work includes child abuse/neglect investigations & assessments, foster care, open adoptions, foster home licensing/training, and director of an emergency group home for Davidson County.  She served as chairperson of Child Crisis Team of Wilkes County (a volunteer group for child abuse prevention).  During this time, she assisted the organization in becoming a nonprofit and receiving Z. Smith Reynolds and United Way funding to provide parenting classes.  In Alamance County, she formed the Foster/Adoptive Parents' Association and served as Alamance County Department of Social Services liaison for it's monthly meetings for 10+ years.  Many changes in foster care have been seen since the 1970's.  Sherry's concern is for the best interests of children, their permanency, and the measures needed to meet these goals.  

Sherry lives with, Craven, her husband of 53 years.  Together, they have a daughter and a granddaughter that bring them great joy.  Sherry enjoys spending time with family. finding great buys on home furnishings, serving on her church's council, and doing all that is possible to help children in foster care.
